Some mama-made clothes for MAMA!!!

This week has been a week of firsts for me in sewing. First time I've ever sewn something for *me* to wear, first time installing a zipper, first time doing a yoke, first hand-sewn hem.

Ahh, the thrill of accomplishment. After losing quite a bit of weight over the last year, I have 2 pairs of pants that fit me, a dressy trouser, and a pair of jeans. I was living in lounge pants all the time because I didn't want to wear out my jeans to fast. So when I picked up corduroy at Joann Fabrics at deep discount, I decided that MAMA needed some new pants. Here they are. The first pair is black cord, the second, brown, wide wale stretch cord. The pattern is Vogue 8157, not too difficult, just took some thinking. Please excuse my stretch marks, it's what happens when you have 2 babies in a 2 year period of time *sigh*

Valentine's Day Jumper

I finished this up this morning for Mushie Face to wear for Valentine's Day. It's a deep red-violet corduroy with a cotton print I thought coordinated really well. I did dragonfly appliques on the back (we're not big heart people). When I tried it on her, she ran away giggling and rubbing her belly. I think she likes he texture of the cord, LOL.

I've also been working more on her spring/ summer wardrobe and added these wool interlock covers. I drafted the pull on cover myself referencing a couple of pics of some covers I'd seen. They fit her well, I just need to tweak the pattern a little. They also need to be dyed, but I need to get some acid dyes so I can get really good colors. I drafted the shorts pattern using some store bought knit shorts that fit her. The dyed shorts were done w/ kool-aid just to get a feel for dying the interlock.

Here are 3 reversible swing dresses I made for Mushie Face.
Pink w/ white butterflies and flowers on one side/ lavender w/ white butterflies and flowers on other side.

Same fabric as above but in Green outer/ soft yellow inner

Inner is same fabric in white on white/ outer is butterflies in shades of purple. We used the outer fabric to make the dresses for the junior bridesmaids in my wedding, so there is some sentimental value to it.

Lastly, some training pants for the Mush. She's been showing some interest in the potty and likes to wear her brother's trainers. I figured she needed some girly ones to wear. See her little hand? She couldn't wait to get her hands on a pair :) I used the Sew Darling Potty Dance Pants pattern.

Some finished projects

I haven't posted much because I've been quite busy trying to clear out some of my yarn and fabric stashes. Here are some of my latest projects:
My in-laws come to visit and we don't have enough cloth napkins so I whipped some up from my flannel stash. All are double-layered.

I also used up some cotton yarn and knitted the kids a "mesh" bag for their balls that were strewn around the playroom. It's a mish-mosh of yarn, but I used up quite a bit that I probably wouldn't have otherwise used for anything else. More to come as blogger only lets me load 5 pics at a time .
